 Kylie Minogue: Bespoke pieces.
While in Australia recovering from breast
cancer treatment Jeanette met with Kylie Minogue to discuss some designs for
photo shoots, her Showgirl Princess book and future projects. Some were used in
photo shoots with William Baker, her capelet joined her costume exhibition, some
went back to London with her and others were used by
sister Danni on various television appearances.
 Jewelled Capelet:
Following the inspiration from the jewelled gown (see below), I created this jewelled capelet in the same style. It was originally designed for Kylie Minogue;
because of time restraints she received the jewelled lace version instead. After making the gown I felt it the perfect time to complete the capelet, it's breathtaking and remains one of my favourite pieces.
Gown of the year 2007: Judges favorite.
This piece came to me as a vision that just had to be made. I
collaborated with a dear friend Marie Moran who lovingly made the dress base,
then I spent the next month or so embellishing the piece. I worked on it constantly, putting my back out in the process and ending up in hospital! (True story)
Dress Information: This unique couture dress is constructed
of a bias cut silk skirt, and metal based bodice, fitted to a transparent mesh lining. The
skill and labour involved to mould the metal to the body shape is unsurpassed
and truly one of a kind. Over 700 metal pieces were meticulously soldered
together one by one to form the bodice and metal decoration. Another10,344 (Yes, over ten thousand!) crystal
and crystal based pearls were individually set, to create the jewelled effect. It
is a truly unique statement piece and is set with the finest Swarovski crystals and Swarovski
pearls, hence the effect it creates when worn is spectacular. It has
a matching bag and accessories.
